Joseph Welham c1811-after 1861.

Joseph was probably the son of Joseph Welham and his wife Lucy. In the 1861 Census, there is an entry for a Joseph Welham ,aged 50 and born in Coddenham, which implies he was born in 1811. The first parish-register entry I have found relating to this Joseph is on 15th October 1834, when he married Sophia Elmer at Barking. If he had been born in 1811, then he would have been 23 when he married Sophia.

In 1861, he was described as an ostler and was living with his wife Sophia (aged 49 and born in Bricett) and two sons - George (aged 22 and a shopkeeper) and Robert (aged 20 and a butcher). Both sons had been born in Needham Market. The family also contained a lodger, John Welham (a scholar aged 7) who had been born in Earl Stonham.
