Joseph Welham c1790-18??

Joseph Welham and his wife Lucy had six children, probably born between 1810 and 1826. These dates suggest that Joseph & Lucy may have been married around 1810 and possibly born around 1790.

The baptism entries for their three youngest children have been found in the Barking registers and these show that Joseph and Lucy were living in Barking from 1820 to 1825 and Joseph was described as a “labourer”.

IGI records show two more sons, William baptised at Barking in 1818 and George, baptised at Coddenham in 1813. It seems likely that the Joseph Welham, who was married in Barking in October 1834, was another of their sons, possibly born around 1811.

Although it seems likely that their two eldest children were born at Coddenham before the family moved to Barking around 1817, they have yet to be traced any further back. The marriage registers for Barking after January 1848 have not been searched - their two daughters Ann and Eliza may have been married after this date. Neither Joseph nor Lucy appear in Barking in the 1861 census, suggesting that they died before this date. The burial registers for Barking have yet to be searched.
