William Welham c1818-after 1854.
The IGI contains an entry for the baptism of “William son of Joseph and Lucy Welham” in Barking on 8th March 1818, and he was probably born shortly before this.
He next appears on 14th January 1848 when William Welham (a bachelor of full age and a labourer) the son of Joseph Welham married Sarah Ann, also of full age and the daughter of William Nash. It seems that they then moved to Darmesdon and William continued to work as a labourer. On 21 June 1850, their son Charles was baptised and on 27th August 1854 their daughter Alice was baptised. (Darmesdon appears as “Darmesator” in 1850 and as “Damyates” in 1854).
No further records have yet been found and they were not at Darmesdon in the 1861 census. The John Welham from Earl Stonham who was staying with William’s brother Joseph in 1861 would have been born around 1854 and is probably not part of this family - even though the ages given in the census are not always correct.
