Benjamin Laughlin 1833-? and Rhoda Finch.

Benjamin was the son of John Laughlin and his wife Elizabeth Merton and was living in Rushford with his parents in the 1841 census.

In 1861 Benjamin Laughlin married Rhoda Finch in Kidderminster and in the census, Benjamin and Rhoda Laughlin were lodging at Heath Cottage, Wood Hill, Highley, Shropshire in the household of George Green and Benjamin was working as a labourer.

In 1871, Benjamin and Rhoda Laughlin were living in Claines near Worcester and Benjamin was still working as a labourer. With them were their four children - Thomas (born 1861 near Cleobury Mortimer), Jane Elizabeth (born 1863 near Kidderminster), John (born 1866 near Sheffield) and Fanny (born 1868 near Sheffield).

In 1881, Rhode Laughlin (a charwoman aged 44 and born in Norton, Worcs) was living in Town Street, Batley in the West Riding of Yorkshire with six of her children, but her husband Benjamin has not been found. The children were were Thomas (aged 19), Jane (aged 17) and John (aged 15) who were all working in the woollen mill, Fanny (aged 12) and Margaret (aged 7) who were at school and William (aged 2). Benjamin Laughlin, aged 47, died in the Dewsbury district at the end of 1881.

In 1891, Rhoda Laughlin, widow, was living at 18 Carlisle Street, Dewsbury with several members of her family. These were her daughters Maggie Laughlin (aged 17) and Fanny Thornton (aged 23), her son William Laughlin (aged 13)and her son-in-law Joel Thornton (aged 25) as well as her grandchildren Jessie Phillips aged 8 and George W.Thornton aged 1.
Thomas and Mary J. Laughlin were living at 31 King Street,Batley and Thomas was working in the woollen mill. With them were their two daughters, Elizabeth aged 3 and Amelia aged 7 months and Mary's sister Lily Rhodes.
John and Ann Laughlin were living at 1 Yard 2, Dark Lane, Batley and John was a coal miner. With them weretheir two sons, Edward aged 4 and Ben aged 1 month.
