Maria Chandler (born Laflin) 1864-? .
Maria was the daughter of Hammond
Laflin and his first wife Maria Wright. She was born in the summer of 1864
and was living with her father and step-mother in Bildeston in the 1871 census.
In the 1881 census, Maria (aged 18) and her sister Kate were lodging at 1 & 2 Bell
Terrace, Hampstead and working as "draper's assistants". Maria was married in the
autumn of 1886 in Lambeth to George Draper Chandler.
George Hammond Chandler was born in Fulham in the autumn of 1887, Dorothy Anna Chandler
was born there in the autumn of 1888 and Dennis Edwin Chandler in the autumn of 1889.
In 1891, Maria and George D. Chandler were living at 28 Ethelden Road, Hammersmith and
George was working as a draper. With them were three children, George H.Chandler (aged 3),
Dorothy A. Chandler (aged 2), Dennis E.Chandler (aged 1) and a servant Julia E.
Cluttenden.
Redelpha Marian Chandler was born in Fulham in the spring of 1893. In 1901, Maria and
George D.Chandler were living at 191D Norbridge Road, Hammersmith and George was
working as a fancy draper. With them were four children, Hammond aged 13, Dorothy aged 12,
Dennis aged 11 and Redelpha aged 8 as well as a servant Ellen Hill.
