Henry Laflin 1826-1868.
Henry was the son of Benjamin Laflin
and his wife Phoebe Gosling and was born on 13th October 1826. In 1841 he was
living in Northgate Street, Bildeston, in the household of Isaac Ward a bootmaker,
and working as a servant. He later moved to London and became a fishmonger.
A marriage was held on 2nd February 1851 in the parish church of St Giles, Camberwell
after banns. The groom was Henry Laflin, a bachelor of full age and a
fish monger living in Hanover Square, Peckham and the son of ?ammit Laflin, a tailor.
The bride was Caroline Mason, a spinster of full age living in the same
road and the daughter of William Mason, a gardener. The witnesses were John Grant
and Hannah Grant and all four signed.
In 1861, Henry and Caroline Laflin were living at 3 St Marys Place, Greenwich and
Henry was working as a fish monger. With them was a visitor, Hannah Maber.
Henry Laflin died in 27th August 1868 at 835 Old Kent Road, Peckham.
He was a Fish Salesman aged 41 and the cause of death was “phthisis pulmonalis
4 months”. The death was reported on 28th August by C. Slater from the same
address.
A marriage was held on 28th July 1871 in Christ Church, Camberwell by licence.
The bride was Caroline Laflin, a widow aged 32 living at 47 Manor Street
and the daughter of William Mason (decd) a merchant captain. The groom was
Alfred Camden, a bachelor aged 34 and an undertaker, living at the same
address and the son of Richard Camden (decd) an undertaker. The witnesses were
Geo. Bennett & Grovenia Gr---er and all four signed.
In 1881, Alfred and Caroline Camden were living at 79 Asylum Road, Old Kent Road,
Camberwell and Alfred was working as an undertaker. With them was their daughter
Hannah Camden, aged 11.
