In 1841, Susannah Laflin, aged 4 was living in Ringshall with her parents - this suggests she was born in 1837 and this is confirmed by the age given in her marriage entry.

By 1851, her father was widowed and Susan Laflin, aged 14, was living at home with him and her siblings.

On 24th February 1861, she married John Caley from Bricett. She was a domestic servant aged 24 and the daughter of Abraham Laflin while John Caley, a labourer from Bricett was a year older.

In 1871, John and Susan Caley were living in Great Bricett and John was working as a farm labourer. Their four children, all born in Bricett, were living with them. They were Laura (aged 9), Mary Agnes (aged 7), William (aged 4) and Ada Kate (aged 1).

In 1881, John Caley junior and his wife Susannah were living in Bricett and John was working as a farm Labourer. Their son William was living with them and also working as a farm labourer. Also there were Rosa (aged 11), Minnie (aged 8) and Arthur (aged 5) who were all at school, while Ellen (aged 3) was at home.
Laura Caley (aged 19) was living in High Street, Barking, in the household of Edward Garrard (aged 66, a ham and bacon curer)and working as ageneral domestic servant.
Her sister Mary (aged 16) was living at 29 Northcote Road, Walthamstow, Essex,in the household of John Garrard (a general merchant aged 30) and working as a servant.

Mary Elizabeth Caley married William Mount inthe last quarter of 1888.

By 1891 all the children had left home and John and Susan Caley were boarders in the household of Henry E. Moore, a farmer in Bildeston Road, Great Bricett. John (now 65) was working as a farm labourer while Susan (aged 64) was working as a domestic servant. Meanwhile their daughter Rose Caley (a dressmaker aged 21) was visiting William and Mary Mount in Creeting St Mary.

Minnie Arthurleen Caley married Alfred Thorpe in the last quarter of 1891 and Susan Caley died at the end of 1892, apparently aged 55. Ellen Margaret Caley married Martin George Marriott in the last quarter of 1896 and Rosa Kate Caley was married in Ipswich in the third quarter of 1897.

In 1901, John Caley, widower, was lodging in Duke Street, Bildeston in the household of Ann Maria Gosling, a widow. He died at the end of 1916, aged 81.
