Sarah Laflin 1810-1868 and James Pearl c1810-1869.
Sarah was the daughter of James Laflin
and his second wife Ann Ramsey and was baptised in July 1810. She married James Pearl
in June 1836. There is no evidence that they had any children.
In the 1841 census (6th June) they were living at Red House, Ringshall
with Sarah's parents James and Ann and two of James' grandchildren.
In the 1851 census (30th March), they were living with her brother
Jonathan and niece Jemima.
In the 1861 census (7th April), James Pearl (aged 51 from Buxhall), a farm
labourer, was living in Ringshall with his wife Sarah (aged 51) and a visitor,
Jemima Laflin (aged 36) - probably the same niece.
Sarah Pearl, aged 58, died in Bosmere in the last quarter of 1868. James Pearl,
supposedly aged 44, died in Bosmere in the first quarter of 1869. This is the only
James Pearl to die in Suffolk between 1861 and 1881 and I think the age has been
incorrectly reported.
Jemima, described in the 1871 census as "lame from birth", was living with her
widowed father Benjamin in 1871 and she remained in Ringshall until her death
in 1895.
