Samuel Laflin 1784-1836 & his two wives.
Samuel was the eldest son of James Laflin and Bathsheba Newstead. He was baptised in December 1784 and presumably born shortly before this.

The IGI showed that on 11th March 1824, Samuel Laflin married Mary
Waterman in St Helens, Ipswich. She may have been the Mary Laflin, aged 28, who was
buried in Offton on 27th January 1831. She must have died before 1834 because in
December 1834, Samuel Laflin, widower, married Mary Garrard at Ringshall. Their son
Elijah was baptised at Great Bricett in March 1837 and buried at Ringshall in
July 1837, aged 2 years. Samuel himself was buried in Ringshall in July 1836 at
the age of 42.
On 24th December 1838, Frederick Laflin was born in Ringshall. He was the son of
Mary Laflin and his father's details were left blank. The birth was registered on
28th January 1839 by his mother (illiterate).
In the 1841 census, Mary and Frederick Laflin were living at Red House, Ringshall
in the household of John and Mary Garrod, who may have been Mary’s parents. Frederick
remained with them in Ringshall and was there in 1851 and 1861, but his mother
disappeared from the records.
