On 18th November 1859, Jonathan Laflin, dealer & son of Abraham Laflin married Sarah Mulley of Stopham in Ringshall church. On 22nd June 1860, Martha Anne (daughter of Jonathan Lauflin, dealer of Battisford, and Sarah) was baptised in Battisford and on 30th August 1860, Martha Anne Laflin of Battisford, aged 10 weeks, was buried in Ringshall.

The IGI showed that their son Jonathan (born 12th December 1861) was baptised in Bury St Edmunds on 8th January 1862, so their move to Bury St Edmunds must have taken place about this time. They have not yet been found in the 1861 census.

In 1871, Sarah was living at 35 Tayfen Road, Bury with her son Jonathan (aged 9) and a visitor Matilda Buxton. Jonathan was away from home and has not been found.

In 1881 Jonathan and Sarah Ann Laflin were living at Shop Street, Fornham St Martin and Jonathan was farming and running a grocer’s shop with the help of his son Jonathan (aged 19). Also in the same household were an aunt Rosetta McDonald and a nurse Mary Ann Slack.

In 1891, Jonathan and Sarah Laflin were living at 2 Avenue Approach, Bury St Edmunds and Jonathan was working as a gardener. With them were a niece from London, May Newell Brenster (aged 7) and two lodgers, Emily Newell (single, aged 49 from Bury St Edmunds and living on own means) and Geo.Freeman from London (aged 10).

In the summer of 1899, Jonathan Laflin died in the Thingoe district, aged 62.
