Frederick William was the son of William Laflin and Maria Abbott and was born in 1870, but was not baptised in Ringshall until 17th April 1870.

In 1871, Frederick W. Laflin (aged 1) was living with his parents
in Ringshall and in 1881 (aged 11) he was living with them in Barking and attending
school. In 1891 (aged 21), he was living with them in Barking and working as a farm
labourer.
In Decmber 1893, Frederick William Laflin married Mary Ann Barton in the Bosmere
district. Their son Frederick was born around 1894, their daughter Beatrice Eva Laflin
in the summer of 1898 and Ethel May Laflin in the spring of 1900.
In the 1901 census, Frederick and Mary Ann were living at Barking Tye and Frederick
was working as a woodman. With them were their three children, Frederick (aged 7),
Beatrice (aged 3) and Ethel May (aged 1).
Bessie Anna Laflin, born in the winter of 1906, may also belong to their family.
In 1970, the children of William’s deceased son Frederick were Mrs Beatrice
Stoneman, Mrs Ethel Webber and Mrs Bessie Sandall.
