Mary Ann Robinson (born Laflin) 1843-?

Mary Ann was the daughter of Philip Laflin and his wife Mary Palmer of Ringshall. She was born in the first quarter of 1843 and baptised at the age of 8 in Ringshall on 10th October 1852, along with the rest of her family.

In 1851, Mary Laflin (aged 8) was living in Ringshall with her parents.

In 1861, Mary Ann Laflin (an unmarried servant aged 18) was living at Cockrills Farm, Jacks Lane, Combs in the household of Peter Reynolds, a farmer. Living in the same household was Abraham Robinson (an unmarried carter from Combs aged 18).

Abraham Robinson, aged 23, a labourer and Mary Ann Laflin, aged 23, daughter of Philip Laflin, labourer were married in Ringshall church on 21st October 1866. Mary Ann's sister Phoebe Laflin was a witness at the wedding.

In 1871, Abraham Robinson (aged 27) was by himself at No 8 Spring Row, Stowmarket because his wife and 2 children were out visiting. Abraham was a maltster's labourer and had been born in Combs. The wife and children have not been found recorded elsewhere in the census.

In 1881, Abraham and Mary A. Robinson were living at 8 Spring Row Cottage, Stowmarket and Abraham was a platelayer G.E.R. With them were five children, Ellen (aged 14 and a general servant), Lucy (aged 11), Anna (aged 9), and Robert (aged 7) who were at school and Mary A (aged 2).

In 1891, Abraham and Mary A Robinson were still living at 8 Spring Row,Stowmarket and Abraham was a railway platelayer. Ellen (aged 24) had left home, but five children were still living with their parents. These were Lucy (aged 21, a staymaker), Robert (aged 17) a maltster'slabourer), Mabel (aged 9) and Alice (aged 6)who were at school and Frank (aged 2). Mary Robinson (aged 12) was staying with her uncle and aunt, William and Ellen Bolton, at Pot Kiln Farm, Hadleigh Road, Combs.

In 1901, Abraham and Mary Robinson were living in Spring Row, Stowmarket with three of their children. Both Abraham and his son Robert (aged 27) were platelayers for the Gt Eastern Rly. The others were Mary (aged 22) and Frank (aged 12).
