Jonathan Laflin 1804-1875.

Jonathan was the eldest son of John Laflin and his wife Mary Neville and was baptised in Ringshall on 10 July 1804.
On 13 October 1823, he married his cousin Hannah Laflin at Ringshall. She was the daughter of Philip Laflin and had been baptised on 20th March 1805.

Six of their children were baptised in Ringshall -Abraham was baptised there on 16th April 1824, Alfred on 25th May 1827, and Adelaide Miriam on 21st June 1835 when she was 4 years old.

In 1841, Jonathan and Hannah Laflin were living in Ringshall and Jonathan was an agricultural labourer. With them were three children, Alfred aged 12, Miriam aged 10 and John aged 4.

Caroline Hannah was baptised in Ringshall on 3rd September 1843, when she was 12 years old. John Jonathan was baptised in Ringshall on 3rd September 1843, when he was 6 years old. Jane Harriett was born in September 1847 and baptised on 12th November 1848.

In 1851, Jonathan and Hannah Laflin were living in Ringshall and Jonathan was working as an agricultural lanbourer. With them were "Edley"(probably Adelaide) aged 18, Jonathan aged 12, Caroline aged 8 and Harriett aged 3.

In 1861, Jonathan and Hannah Laflin were living in Ringshall in the household of Hannah Laflin, widow (Hannah's mother) who was farming 32 acres. Jonathan was working as a farm labourer. Also in the same household were their two younger daughters - Caroline (aged 18 and working as a dairymaid) and Harriet (aged 10 and at school).

In 1871, Jonathan and Hannah were living in Ringshall and Jonathan was farming 31 acres and employing 1 man. With them were caroline (aged 25) and Jane (aged 23).

Hannah Laflin died in the first quarter of 1874, aged 69. Jonathan Laflin died a year later in the first quarter of 1875, aged 71. Their gravestones are in Ringshall churchyard and have the inscriptions
"HANNAH,W OF JONATHAN LAFLIN DIED 11 MAR 1874 AGE 70"
and "JONATHAN LAFLIN DIED 7 MAR 1875 AGE 71".

Caroline Hannah Laflin was baptised on 3 September 1843, aged 12 years. Hence she was born some time in 1831. She appeared in the 1871 census with her parents and in 1881 with her sister Adelaide.

Jane Harriett Laflin was baptised on 12 November 1848 and born September 1847. She appeared in the 1871 census with her parents in Ringshall. In 1881 she was staying with her brother John in Ealing and in 1891, aged 44, she was lodging at 13 St Matthews Road, Twyford Abbey, Ealing in the household of Charles Haynes, and working as a dressmaker.
