Charles John Laflin 1846-?

Charles John Laflin was the son of Philip Laflin and his wife Mary Palmer of Ringshall and was born in the third quarter of 1846. Charles John Laflin, aged 6 years, was baptised in Ringshall on 10th October 1852, along with his brother and sisters.

In 1851, Charles Laflin, aged 4, was living in Ringshall with his parents.

In 1861, Charles Laflin, aged 14, was living in Ringshall in the household of his widowed mother who was farming 6 acres.

In 1871, Charles Laflin (an unmarried agricultural labourer aged 24) was living in Ringshall in the household of his widowed mother.

In the last quarter of 1877, Charles Laflin and "Susan Madick" were married in the Bosmere registration district and on 30th December 1877 a wedding was held in the parish church at Ringshall, following banns. The groom was Charles Laflin, aged 30 and a labourer and the son of Philip Laflin, a labourer. The bride was Sarah Madrick, aged 30 and she signed the register while Charles made his mark.

Mary Ann Lafling was born in the third quarter of 1879 and in 1881, Charles and Sarah Laflin were living in Stowmarket Road, Ringshall in the household of Charles' mother Mary Laflin. Their daughter Mary Ann Laflin (aged 1) was living with them.

Phoebe Laflin was born in the second quarter of 1881, soon after the census. Then on 13 November 1881, Mary Ann (born 21 July 1879) and Phebe (born 5 April 1881), daughters of Charles and Sarah Laflin, were baptised at Ringshall.

Philip John E. Laflin was born in the last quarter of 1882, Ethel May Laflin was born in the third quarter of 1884 and John Jonathan J. Laflin was born in the last quarter of 1888.

In 1891, Charles and Sarah Lafflin were living in Ringshall in the household of Charles' widowed mother Mary Lafflin and Charles was working as an agricultural labourer. With them were their five children - Margaret (probably Mary Ann) aged 11, Phoebe aged 10, Philip aged 8 and Ethel aged 6, all at school, and Jarvis aged 2.
