Abraham Laflin 1824-1874
Abraham was the eldest son of Jonathan Laflin and his wife Hannah Laflin and was baptised in Ringshall on on 16th April 1824. His parents had been married in October 1823, which suggests that Abraham was born in the spring of 1824, shortly before his baptism.

Abraham, aged 17, was not with his parents in Ringshall in the
1841 census and may already have moved to Buckinghamshire. He has not been found
in either 1841 or 1851.
In the third quarter of 1856, Abraham Laflin & Caroline Sams were married in the Eton
registration district. (Caroline had been born in Slough in 1826).
They had four children. The eldest, William Henry Laflin, was born in the third
quarter of 1857 and baptised on 13th September 1857 at Upton-cum-Chaveley,
Buckinghamshire.
The second was Abraham Laflin, whose birth was registered in the first quarter of 1860
and who was baptised on 26th December 1859 in Upton-cum-Chaveley, Buckinghamshire.
He was probably the Abraham Laflin who died in the same quarter of 1860. At the same
time an un-named infant was also born and died the same quarter. These dates
suggest a considerable delay in registering Abraham’s birth, possibly the
registrar refused to register the deaths until he had recorded the births.
In 1861, Abraham and Caroline Laflin were living at 4 Park Road, Upton and Abraham was
working as a dyer. With them was their son William (aged 4).
The youngest child was a daughter Caroline Jane Laflin. She was born in 1861, her
birth was registered in the third quarter of 1861 and she was baptised
on 13th October 1861 in Upton-cum-Chaveley.
They have not been found in 1871.
Abraham Laflin died in the first quarter of 1874 in the Eton district.
In 1881, My Laflin, widow (should be "Caroline") was living at 4 Claremont Place,
Park St, Upton-cum-Chalvey, Bucks and working as a laundress. With her were her
son William Laflin (a gardener aged 23) and her daughter C.Laflin (a laundrymaid aged
19). In the same household were a boarder, J.Groves (a carman aged 24) and a lodger
Alfred Perryman (a painter aged 23).
In 1891,Caroline Laffin (a widow aged 60) was living at 4 Claremont Place, Park St,
Upton-with-Chaveley, Slough, Bucks and working as a laundress. With her were her son,
William Hry Laffin (a gardener aged 31), her daughter, Caroline Laffin (a laundress
aged 28) and a lodger, Alfred Perryman (a plumberand painter aged 30).
In the second quarter of 1891, Caroline Jane Laflin & Alfred Perryman were married.
Alfred had been born around 1858 In Burnham, Bucks.
In the last quarter of 1891, William Henry Laflin & Ellen Henwood were married. Ellen
had been born around 1858 inBasildon.
Caroline Laflin died in thelast quarter of 1899. In 1901, Ellen and William H.Laflin
were living at 101 Albert Street, Upton-cum-Chalvey, Bucks and William was working as
a domestic gardener. With them were four children, Ellen (aged 8), William (aged 7),
Edith (aged 4) and Harry (aged 2).
Ellen had been born in the third quarter of 1892, William in the third quarter of 1893,
Edith in the third quarter of 1896 and Henry in the second quarter of 1899. Frederick
Laflin, born in the second quarter of 1901, was probably another member of this family.
In 1901, Alfred and Caroline Perryman were living at 2 Claremont Villa, Drumond Road,
Slough and Alfred was working as a painter and decorator.
