He probably moved to Edwardstone and appeared as "Jasper Laflinge" in 1638 in the list of "able men of Suffolk. He was also the "Jasper Laffling" who contributed 12/0 to the ship money for the parish of Stone Edward in 1640.
The Edwardstone Parish Registers have not survived before 1645. George Nelson was vicar of Edwardstone in 1645 and continued until his death in 1650. The new vicar was George Pretty who continued as vicar after the Restoration in 1660. It is possible that the vicar before George Nelson was evicted from his parish and took the registers with him.
In the absence of information from the parish registers, it has been assumed that this Jasper married Mary around 1620 (when he was 40) and they lived in Edwardstone. At least two children, Jasper and Bridget, were born and grew up in Edwardstone. Bridget Laughflyn married John Whale in Edwardstone on 23rd November 1648 and they had two sons, baptised in Edwardstone in 1649 and 1655.
The witch trials of Matthew Hopkins ("Witchfinder General") started in Manningtree in 1645 and continued until 1647. Some of them were in Suffolk, but there is no indication that any of the Laflin family were involved.
In May 1646 a Mary Laughflyne was buried in Edwardstone and she is assumed to have been Jasper's wife. On 16th October 1656, "Jasper Laughfline senior" was buried in Edwardstone (at the age of 75).
